I enjoyed the animated series (what I saw of it, I saw most of the first season, but not every episode and I haven't caught any of the second season). In tone, it's a bit less serious and political than the comics, and a bit sillier and funnier.
In particular, I remember these as good episodes: "Granddad's Fight" - really beautiful animation sequences, referencing anime (particularly Samurai Champloo) and old samurai movies. "Return of the King" - MLK didn't die when he was shot, he's just been in a coma for the last thirty years. He wakes up in the modern day and deals with the current state of the civil rights movement. I do have some problems with this, but I adored the concept. "Riley Wuz Here" - Riley becomes a graffiti artist, tries to avoid getting caught. Light, but sweet.
