We already have a sister community for films,
12films_poc. How about one for music? I know that my musical knowledge is a bit more whitebread than I'd like, and I'd like to expand my range.
Is anyone else interested? Maybe starting next year?

(On the reading front, I was really disappointed to find out that children's book Jamaica Louise James was written by a White person. At least she seems to be actually familiar with NYC, where the story is set, and by the kind of family that would live in Washington Heights. [The story doesn't say, but it *feels* like Washington Heights.])

The concept does raise a few questions for me, though, that may not necessarily apply in the same way to books and films. (For example: would the definitions be as blanket as this community? Would Yo Yo Ma's album of Bach's cello suites "count", or should both composer and artist be people of color? What about Bela Fleck's recent album and accompanying documentary that returns the banjo to its African roots, with collaboration from African musicians?) I do see how this is pretty nitpicky for a post gauging interest, though, so I'll just leave it there. :)
