I think I'll probably give it a miss and spend the money on other Haikasoru books instead (it's a very impressive line-up).

Oddly, I often find gore in films is easier for me to cope with than gore in books. I don't like it, but it's easier for me to distance myself from something on screen than something on the page (with a mental image I've generated in my own imagination). I think that may be why I enjoyed the film so much.
