Book Club

Would anyone be interested in a book club style discussion? Pick/vote on a book, pick a date that gives everyone a month or so to read it, and then have a IM/IRC chat about the book. Leave a comment or fill out the poll if you are interested or have a suggestion. Thanks.

What an awesome idea!

I'd be interested in possibly reading the book--tho' I am more likely to engage in discussion on LJ rather than in a chat (I wonder if finding a time that would work for folks in disparate time zones might be tricky).

I'd also probably be more likely to engage in an LJ discussion than with IM.

(Unrelatedly, I approve of your icon. XD)

I picked "read" and "chat" but by "chat" I mean "discuss on LJ" as others have noted. I tried to join a book club at school and timing with respect to meeting to chat/discuss is definitely an issue.

I did vote for chat, but like others, I actually meant discuss it in an LJ post rather than in realtime chat.

Also, it would depend on the book (whether it interests me/whether I could get a hold of it/whether it's short enough that I can read it in the allotted time).

Because I apparently can't read specifics, I was assuming LJ discussion not IM discussion when I voted for 'chat', because then there wouldn't be the problem of finding a time that fits for everyone. But! If it was IM discussion then it would depend on the time it's taking place, and the IM platform. And, as someone said above, the book.

I ditto the LJ discussion... am in grad school and have a hard time finding blocks of time.

Another vote for LJ discussion instead of chat. :)

Would prefer to discuss on LJ rather than chat

I would love an LJ post made concurrently! Since I almost never have time to IRC or IM.

*Very* interested in reading with a group, but I'm another one who would be more likely to participate in a conversation if it was on LJ.
