That's interesting that you desribe the girl on the cover as Black. If we are taking about the U.S. covers, I definitely see the model as Asian. But you're right, it is a plot spoiler :)
I recommend this series, it's one of my favorite YA series!
I love the Victorian setting and details along with the main character being a street smart detective/spy who happens to be a poc.
