I think it might be good to have a rule that if you are white and you want to talk about racism in this comm, you have to disclose that you're white. If mods have rerason to suspect someone is not disclosing they can question the person in pm, but I think most posters here would engage with this in good faith. It wouldnt have to be a big thing, just saying (Note: I'm white) in the first relevant comment or post.

The reason I'd be against a rule like this, is because some poc, for various reasons, don't want to declare their identity. And sometimes the declaration is just "it's complicated" because it is, esp for people of mixed heritage, and some might rather just leave the comm than have it be one more place where they're put under the magnifying class and judged on whether they pass.

Which is to say: I think the issue's more complicated than having white people acknowledge they are not the experts when it comes to racism.
