Oh yeah, Kaylin is totally a lot like Jewel. And by "a lot" I mean they're at least 66% the same, I'd say. I would say that the Elantra books also demonstrate conclusively that MS is hung up on the end of the world. Not that that's a bad thing in either the Elantra or Sun Sword books, since she dramatizes the obsession in such a cool way.
I think I liked the third book best of the four, though Courtlight is also very good.
