I've seen a couple of people mention tagging books on LibraryThing with 'Author of Colour' etc, as a way to get recs and make lists.

I don't use LibraryThing because I refuse to pay for a service, but I am on GoodReads and Shelfari, so I was wondering if any of you have a system for organising for either of those. I haven't got into the social networking and groups aspect of those sites, but if there are Author of Colour groups and recs out there, or if any of you are cross-posting your reviews from this comm to any of those sites, it might be nice to have a resource round-up.

(mods: feel free to tag this as necessary)

ETA: A poll, to try to help gather data! Never mind, I fail at making polls. I will try to edit this later as a consensus about what tags to use emerges.

I am on Goodreads. I haven't started organising but I'm thinking of a poc_author shelf and a poc_character shelf.

A small number of users are using 50books_poc.

I'd also be keen to hear other people organising methods.

I'm one of those using 50books_poc on Goodreads, not out of any belief that it's the most logical tag but because it struck me as the only tag I'd be sure others here would be using. If something else is better, I can switch.

A quick Goodreads Groups search (on "authors of color" and "50books_poc") revealed nothing, although I'm sure we could create a group. I'm on GoodReads, and am "shelving" potential 50books_poc books as "nwp" (because I don't feel comfortable with the phrase "of color") and then when a book is definitely one of my 50, adding it to "50books_poc-rnd-1".

I cross-post all my reviews between here, my own LJ and Goodreads.

I'm very new to this community, but I am on GoodReads and I've been using a "by-poc" tag.

I've bookmarked a GoodReads list of sf/f, romance, or historical fiction by POC authors which I think I found in somebody's RaceFail roundup (or was it at [livejournal.com profile] verb_noire? I don't remember), but you can check it out here (http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1595.Re_focus).

I'm on LibraryThing and Goodreads, and I don't use a label/tag/shelf to identify authors of color, but I would use one if this community reaches an agreement on a label to use.

I'm on LibraryThing and I started using "PoC Author" (list here (http://www.librarything.com/catalog/marydell&tag=PoC%2Bauthor)) after joining this comm. I could add another tag if this comm decides on one. I would only use "50books_poc" on books I read and reviewed for the comm, not on all of my books by POC, I think.

There are only a couple of other thingers using the "PoC Author" tag...I posted to the LT comm in January or so, asking for suggestions, and most of the replies were like "I don't judge a book by the color of the author, I just read what interests me." Sigh.

I think it's a great idea to standardise the terminology so we can find the books more easily. I use author_poc on goodreads, but I'm willing to change it if people decide on something else.

My librarything tags are "by.poc" and author:african-american, author:asian-american, author:asian, etc. etc. I'm happy to add more tags like "author:poc" or whatever.

Oh and I'm "orangejulia" on librarything

Am also on Goodreads (as sageness) and have a ton of books by authors of color, although they aren't tagged as such yet. It would be great if we could come to a consensus on a tag for authors of color.

I'm on goodreads as well (same name), but don't have a tag for books by authors of color. In fact only this post made me realize that it would be a good idea to have a shelf for the 50books_poc I read, heh. I'm willing to go with the consensus for a tag, though I'm leaning towards 50books_poc.
